Completed in 1984, at 8 foot in diameter, the Interactive Polage Art pictured is the largest of several pieces created for the New Mexico Museum of Natural History. Four images are visible to the naked eye, The mountain, Eagle, Cactus and Sabre Tooth skeleton represent the four disciplines of the museum: Geology, Zoology, Botany and Paleontology. Austine worked closely with the museum curators of each discipline to depict subjects of interest. The colors visible to the naked eye are changing, but when viewed through a hand held filter, the image suddenly becomes a vast and colorful landscape, full of flora and fauna of the region.
